Jeremy Harris was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After earning his Bachelor’s degree, he found the Deaf community and their visual language by chance. This led to a new passion. Some years later, he found himself enrolled within the reputable Interpreting Preparation Program (IPP) at Ohlone College in Fremont, California. Now known as the Deaf-Centered IPP, this unique program led Jeremy to initiate his development as an interpreter serving the Deaf community, albeit during trying times (i.e. the COVID-19 pandemic).
Academically, Jeremy enjoys learning the most that he can about how language works in conjunction with the human mind. He feels that the visually rich languages found within Deaf communities worldwide have a strong role to play in the future with respect to how human beings understand language and cognition. He wishes to someday contribute to this research endeavor.
In his free time, Jeremy enjoys reading and writing speculative fiction (Fantasy and Sci-Fi), imagining fantasy worlds and constructing fantasy languages, playing a variety of games, and bullet-journaling.
